Woman Fell Asleep Driving, Struck Parked Car, Police Say

Hellertown Police say Karen I. Fischer, of Hidden Valley Road, Doylestown, told them she briefly fell asleep while driving before crashing into a parked car in the 300 block of Main Street.

A Bucks County woman will be cited with careless driving, after Hellertown Police say she briefly fell asleep while driving on Main Street Feb. 24.

In a news release, police said Karen I. Fischer, of the 6100 block of Hidden Valley Road, Doylestown, was southbound in the 300 block of Main Street shortly after 5 p.m. when she fell asleep, crossed the northbound travel lane and struck a vehicle that was parked in front of 329 Main St.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident, but police said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Police said the car that was struck is owned by Heather Onuschak of Hellertown.
