Baseball: Hatboro-Horsham Loses League Opener

The Hatters baseball team lost to CB East Tuesday.

Hatboro-Horsham lost their league opener 8-6 at CB East on Tuesday. The Hatters blew a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when CB East scored 6 runs in an inning that included 3 Hatboro-Horsham errors, 1 walk, 1 HBP, and 5 hits. The big blow was a two-out single by Brandon Birkhead with the bases loaded. The ball was misplayed and allowed the bases to clear and Birkhead to reach third base. Birkhead then scored on an RBI single by Pat Reilly.

Birkhead, a junior, was also instrumental on the mound for the Patriots. He earned the win in relief pitching 2 innings and striking out 4 without allowing a baserunner.

Grant Opalisky (unsigned senior) was tremendous for the Hatters. Opalisky was 3-4 with a double and an RBI.
