Baseball: Hatters Fall to Souderton

The Hatboro-Horsham baseball team lost its early game lead in a 10-5 defeat from Souderton Thursday.

Despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Hatboro-Horsham High School baseball team lost a back-and-forth battle to Souderton 10-5 in 9 innings on Thursday afternoon.  

In the first, Zach Prendergast led off with a single, followed by a walk to Brad Humski. Grant Opalisky followed with an RBI single that scored Prendergast. Kevin Barron had a two out single later in the inning that scored Humski and Opalisky to put the Hatters up 3-0.

Souderton scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to make it 3-2. Then, the Indians scored 3 runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Hatters tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with RBIs from Kevin Barron and Chris Naiberk.

The Hatters loaded the bases in the seventh inning with 2 outs, but were unable to plate the go ahead run. In the top of the ninth inning, the Hatters got the first two batters out, before the Indians exploded for 5 two out runs, on 2 errors and 4 hits.
