Pennsylvania Bio, an organization representing the state's biosciences company, presented its Federal Public Official of the Year award to U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz (District 13) recently.

Schwartz, who has been passionate about promoting and growing biotechnology in Pennsylvania, was rewarded for her tireless efforts in the $1 billion Therapeutic Discovery tax credit program.

“Congresswoman Schwartz is a national leader in developing and championing public policies that promote the continued success of America’s life sciences sector,” said Jim Greenwood, President and CEO of Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in a statement. "We particularly applaud Representative Schwartz’s leadership on the Therapeutic Discovery Project Program, which provided much-needed capital to small biotech companies working on promising research.”
