Construction Underway at Former Wachovia Bank

Since taking ownership of the shuttered bank in late 2011, Hatboro Federal Savings has been working to renovate the building.

Since the sale of the formerly borough-owned Wachovia Bank building in late 2011, contractors have been busily working to transform the long-time shuttered structure into useable office space.

Piles of rubble surrounded the rear exterior of the building this week as contractors behind a fenced-in area worked to renovate the space now owned by Hatboro Federal Savings.

Hatboro Federal's President and CEO Joseph J. Tryon Jr. told Patch previously that he intended to move the bank's administration offices, as well as its boardroom to the former Wachovia Bank building. In addition, some of the people working in the branch on York Road - one of four Hatboro Federal locations - would be relocated there, he had said.

The intent is to "keep the appearance" of the former Wachovia Bank, Tryon said.
