Candidate Questions

1. How do you feel about the borough's future development?

I want to start with a brief thank you for the privilege of serving Hatboro for the past four years. I hope I have made the most out of our time together as a steward for our borough, and I would appreciate the opportunity to serve you for another term.

Thank you to the residents, past and present, who bring their concerns to us about the future of Hatboro. We have taken some steps already to protect our historic properties and to encourage developments to build responsibly. We are lucky to have a main street area that can be used to help bolster our businesses and be attractive to residents and visitors alike. A hometown feel is what attracts many people to Hatboro. A sense of familiarity, comfort, safety, etc., is important to our borough, and it should remain important to your Borough Council for years to come.

2. What are your thoughts on political violence in the country?

I do not condone political violence that has, unfortunately, been part of our nation’s history from its earliest days. It has been with us from the conflicts surrounding our founding to the struggles over civil rights and social change, but it has never been a sustainable or justifiable way to resolve political disagreements.

What’s especially concerning today is the growing rise in extremism across the political spectrum, fueled by misinformation, polarization, and a breakdown in civil discourse. We need to confront these trends not through violence, but through engagement, accountability, and a renewed commitment to democratic principles and respectful debate.

3. What are the biggest challenges facing the borough?

One of the biggest challenges facing Hatboro in the future will be managing the rising costs of goods and services while lacking reliable access to renewable energy sources. As energy prices fluctuate and the cost of living continues to climb, residents and small businesses alike will feel increasing financial strain. Without a stable, local source of affordable and sustainable energy, Hatboro risks falling behind neighboring communities that invest in renewables and energy resilience.

Addressing this challenge will require forward-thinking policies that promote energy efficiency, encourage renewable infrastructure, and support economic stability — ensuring that Hatboro remains an affordable and sustainable place to live and work in the years ahead.
