Patterson, a Democrat, is among six candidates running for a term on the five-member council.
Republican Council Sean Wade did not seek re-election. The GOP holds a 3-2 council majority.

Republican Council President W. William Whiteside, Councilman Eric Glemser, and former Hatboro-Horsham School Director Erin Whalen are being challenged by Democrats Elizabeth Thomson, John McCarthy, and Ruth Patterson.

Candidate Questions
1. How do you feel about the former Navy Base development?
I feel that there will be great possibilities for the residents of Horsham as a result of the redevelopment. Being a proud resident of Horsham and having a workforce development non-profit, I feel that the growth of Horsham's economy through local job creation and the attraction of businesses through the development of the Navy base will be achieved.
2. What are your thoughts on political violence in the country?
I feel that political violence of any kind should have no place in our country. We are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. My thoughts are for the country to model the appropriate political behavior of mutual respect for all and generations to come.
3. What are the biggest challenges facing the borough?
With the redevelopment of the Navy base, I think that it is essential to make sure that all development is done with fidelity in the interest of the community, having social equity, and promoting environmental sustainability for future generations.
