Lower crude oil prices, and cold weather, has pushed gas prices down for the third week, with the national average per gallon down 35 cents from a month ago and the Pennsylvania price down 25 cents, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
In Bucks and Montgomery counties, the average price of a gallon is $3.696 per gallon, which is 2.3 cents lower than a week ago, 23.8 cents lower than a month ago and 22.1 cents higher than a year ago.
Power outages and distribution issues in the wake of Hurricane Sandy left some delivery terminals and service stations – particularly in northern New Jersey and New York City – without electricity. It is important for motorists to realize, the report states, that this continues to be an issue of electrical supply rather than a gasoline shortage.
