Get a Jump on Earth Day, Rummage, Relive WWII

Looking for something different to do this weekend? Take your Spring cleaning to a whole new level with Hatboro and Horsham events held in honor of Earth Day, which is Monday. Here are some options:

BEAUTIFY MAIN STREET HATBORO

Where/when: Hatboro’s business district, along York Road and side streets, Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Why go: Help merchants sweep up, clear away weeds in front of businesses, or plant flowers.

Cost: Free

RUMMAGE SALE

Where/when: Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 S. York Road, Hatboro, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Why go: Clothing for all ages and sizes, shoes, household items, furniture, jewelry, artwork, toys, games and more will be available for purchase.

Cost: Depends on what you buy (free to browse).

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

Where/when: Jarrett Nature Center, 411 Babylon Road, Horsham, Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Why go: Enjoy a scavenger hunt, fishing activities, storytelling, geocaching and more.

Cost: Free

WORLD WAR II WEEKEND

Where/when: Graeme Park, 859 County Line Road, Horsham, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: See re-enactors stage a battle between American and German troops, take in weapons demonstrations, a period vehicle display, a simulation air craft, American and German camps, vendors, ceremonies to honor veterans and more.

Cost: $10 per day or $15 for both days for adults; $5 for seniors + and kids ages 13-17; free admission for veterans and kids 12 and under.

PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH DINNER AND SHOO FLY PIE

Where/when: Ambler Mennonite Church, 90 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Ambler, Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy Pennsylvania Dutch staples including chicken pot pie, cole slaw, applesauce and shoo fly pie for dessert.

Cost: $9 per adult; $8 for seniors; $5 for children aged 5 to 13; free for children under 5.
