Hatboro Annual 'National Night Out' Will Return August 13

During the nationwide, annual event, residents will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with area law enforcement and first responders.

HATBORO, PA — Residents of this Montgomery County borough will soon have the opportunity to meet and interact with some of those individuals whose job it is to keep their community safe.

The Hatboro National Night Out will take place on Aug. 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., giving neighbors a chance to get on a first-name basis with some local first responders.

“Stop by and meet police officers and first responders from our area and see displays of equipment they use to protect our communities,” the Hatboro Police Department posted online. “There will be demonstrations from police canine teams from the area, including our own canine Louie!”

The police department cosponsors the event along with the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce.

The police department stated that members of the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety will also be in attendance at the event, and that in addition to its displays of equipment, representatives would be offering free Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations to those 18 years of age and older who have not yet been vaccinated against the virus.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose.

The event will take place in Miller Meadow, which is located along South York Road near the intersection with Horsham Road in Hatboro.

National Night Out is a yearly program that takes place in towns and cities across the country during which residents can mingle with law enforcement and emergency response personnel.

“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while brining back a true sense of community,” states information on the event’s website. “Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.”

According to its website, National Night Out actually began locally by a member of the Lower Merion Community Watch program. The program has since branched out to all 50 states and some U.S. Territories.
