Who Are The Bird Towns Besides Hatboro In Montco?

Hatboro joins 17 other Montgomery County communities with the state designation.

HATBORO, PA — The Bird is The Word in Hatboro.

The borough became the 78th Bird Town in Pennsylvania, officials announced at Monday night's Borough Council meeting.

Bird Town Pennsylvania works in partnership with local municipalities and like-minded organizations to promote community-based conservation actions to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for birds, wildlife, and people.

Per the partnership, the borough established a Bird Town Committee, which is tasked with working on bird-friendly initiatives in Hatboro.

This committee includes: Councilwoman Jennifer Hendrickson and Councilman Alex Myers, along with Mike Williams, Rita Hartman, Ray Byrnes, Kate Kollar, Kelly A'Harrah, Janet White, and Adam Hendrickson.

Borough officials thanked Heidi Shiver, president of Bird Town Pennsylvania, for making Hatboro a Bird Town.

The Bird Town Committee will have a table at Hatboro's upcoming Community Day on May 17 from Noon to 4 p.m. to help educate Hatboro on their mission and initiatives.

A thriving bird ecosystem has positive ripple effects across the environment. Species diversity among birds allows native plant life to flourish, and birds are a significant predator of nuisances and disease-spreading creatures like mosquitoes and ticks.

In Montgomery County, the following communities are Bird Towns, in addition to Hatboro:
