Ryan Allen, The Hatboro Officer Who Suffered Cardiac Arrest From Bee Sting, Still Sedated
Hatboro Officer Ryan Allen remains in critical but stable condition after being hospitalized following cardiac arrest from bee sting.

HATBORO, PA — The Hatboro police officer who suffered cardiac arrest recently due to a freak accident connected to a bee sting remains in critical but stable condition at a Philadelphia hospital.
Officer Ryan Allen ended up suffering a brain injury due to oxygen deprivation, and he continues to be under heavy sedation, but he is also slowly improving, his wife, Whitney Allen, said in a social media post.
"His medical team is slowly trying to decrease his medications to see where he is cognitively and physically," Whitney Allen posted publicly to Facebook. "They have been unable to do an assessment thus far because he still requires sedation to help with 'storming' episodes which are common/expected after a brain injury."

The 35-year-old officer, who was off duty and at his home at the time, is a beloved member of the Hatboro Police Department who helped to start that agency's K9 unit.
His wife is currently at home caring for the couple's young child and pregnant with their second.
In her Facebook post on Tuesday, Whitney Allen said her husband, who is receiving treatment at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in the city, has been under heavy sedation and "meticulously monitored" for brain swelling since being rushed to the hospital.
"Despite everything, I know that Ryan is fighting so hard to come back to us — as usual in his own time and own way," Whitney Allen posted. "Having patience is very frustrating in this situation but it is also the most important as his body has been through so much and needs time to repair and heal."
Whitney Allen thanked the community for the thoughts, prayers and donations that have been offered and made to her family, and she said that she will continue to keep everyone up to date on her husband's condition.
