HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Democrats looked to defeat two GOP councilmen in voting in Tuesday's general election for Horsham Township Council.

The Republicans hold a 3-2 majority on the five-member board, with Democrats taking two seats in the last council election.

Results in Tuesday's general election by the Montgomery County Board of Elections are unofficial until they are certified at a later date.

As of 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, nearly 80 percent of the precincts had reported their vote tallies.

  • John McCarty (Democrat) — 4,656 votes

  • W. William Whiteside (Republican) — 3,029 votes
  • Eric Glemser (Republican) — 3,002 votes
  • Erin Whalen (Republican) — 2,918 votes
