Jarrett Nature Center Gets 5 New Birdhouses

Cub Scout Pack 39 of Horsham built the nesting boxes during a project through St. Catherine of Siena.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Jarrett Nature Center has five new nesting boxes.

The Hatters Way center received the birdhouses from a project by Cub Scout Pack 39 through St. Catherine of Siena.

The scouts worked together to build birdhouses just in time for nesting season.

The birdhouses can accommodate native birds such as bluebirds, tree swallows, and chickadees, the nature center said.

The Cub Scouts then used maps to locate the areas around Jarrett Nature Center to install the poles for mounting the boxes.

Later in the season, the nature center will monitor them as part of the Cornell Lab’s Nest Watch project.

The Jarrett Nature Center is a nature preserve providing environmental education to the students of Hatboro-Horsham School District and the communities of Horsham township and Hatboro borough.
