Joe Sherman, 97, of Hatboro
An interment service will be held next month for Joe Sherman, formerly of Hatboro.

Joe Sherman, the son of eastern European immigrants and a Hatboro resident of the last 50 years, died on March 27. He was 97.
The beloved husband of Virginia Sherman, Sherman is survived by his children Michael, Cynthia, Peter and Thomas and 11 grandchildren.
After a stint in the CCC's in the 1930s, he traveled cross country on his motorcycle to enroll at the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa where he became the first of his family to achieve a college degree. He met and married Virginia Moffit in 1943, celebrating 70 years of marriage just last November. Upon marriage, Sherman immediately set out to serve in World War II as a lieutenant in the Air Force, serving in Europe until the duration of the War. Sherman achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel.

The Shermans settled in Hatboro 50 years ago. The family was one of the four founding families of the BuxMont Unitarian Church. Mr. Sherman had great enthusiasm for life expressed by his interests in tools, car repair, alternative health and passionate discussions with friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his interment service at 11 a.m. on May 25 at Hatboro Cemetery, 36 Fulmor Ave., in Hatboro.
