HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — He stretched his paw out as a thank you to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.

K9 Mac and his handler, Horsham Township Detective Kimberly Ngo were recently awarded the Montgomery County District Attorney's Commendation for Exceptional Service for their work in assisting the county's Detective Bureau's Homicide Unit with investigating a robbery and homicide in Norristown.

The duo systematically searched a large portion of a Norristown park, locating the cell phone of the homicide victim. That phone was stolen by the murderer at the time of the robbery and later discarded after fleeing the crime scene.

Finding the victim's cell phone helped investigators, among many other things, confirm the murderer's suspected path of flight and provided details about the victim's life, which were used to identify one of the co-conspirators involved in setting the victim up to be robbed, authorities said

DA Steele also mentioned the countless other investigations that Detective Ngo and K9 Mac have assisted in Montgomery County and beyond.

"Kim and Mac are always up for a challenge and stand ready to assist both Horsham Police and outside agencies with investigations involving electronic scent detection," authorities said.

"We are so very proud of Det. Ngo and her four-legged partner, Mac, for all of the outstanding work they do on a regular basis, but exceptionally proud that their outstanding work and partnership were highlighted by District Attorney Steele," authorities said. "Undoubtedly, this will not be the last time their hard work is recognized."
