Kasbah Cafe for Sale

The owner of the Hatboro restaurant is relocating.

After only eight months, the owner of a Mediterranean restaurant in Hatboro is looking to sell the business–but not close the doors.

Owner and chef Zach Ftouh told Patch that his need to move to Florida with his family prompted placement of an ad on Craigslist for the sale of equipment related to 50-seat Kasbah Cafe, 119 S. York Road.

Ftouh, who leases the space, is seeking $60,000 for everything but the actual building.

"My partner is still interested in staying," Ftouh said, noting that he would be without a chef once Ftouh moves. "We’re still debating that."

Ftouh said the business is "breaking even, which is pretty good for a restaurant" open for under a year.

"It’s a very good place for somebody who wants to keep it the way it is," Ftouh said, adding that the new owner could "benefit" from the renovations he did, which "cost a little more than what we’re asking, plus our time."

Since Ftouh said he wants to be settled in Florida prior to the start of the school year, time is of the essence in terms of either selling it, or finding a new partner to replace him.

But, Ftouh emphasized that he has no plans to close the business.

"We’re still operating as usual," Ftouh said. "If we don’t sell it we’ll stay open."
