Zoning Districts Approved At Navy Base In Horsham
Horsham Township Council held a public hearing at its meeting on Wednesday to amend the township's zoning code.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The township's recently acquired Navy base land has been carved up into zoning districts.
At its meeting on Wednesday night, Horsham Township Council unanimously approved amending an ordinance to create new zoning districts on the 118 acres of the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base consistent with the approved redevelopment plan following a public hearing.
Township Manager Bill Walker said the districts include space for commercial development, different types of housing, open space, parks, schools, and more.

Walker said the move protects the township’s interest in the property, is proactive in working toward eventual development, and shows good faith with the Navy’s plan to transfer the land to the township.
Walker said he expects the land to be transferred to the township in about 18 to 24 months after recently signing an agreement of sale.

The township recently acquired 100 acres of the property at the former Navy base on Horsham Road and Route 611.
During a recent ceremonial signing to transfer over 100 acres of the 862-acre base, officials unveiled a brand plan for the property's development. The property has been officially rebranded as 862 Rise at Horsham.
Officials said the agreement marks a "major milestone" in transforming the base into a vibrant, community-focused development.
The township sees the base as a mixed-use development that would include a town center, office park, regional recreation center, and some housing.
