Painters Inspired by Great Outdoors

A group of Hatboro and Horsham painters are putting brush to canvas this summer while taking in picturesque outdoor scenes.

For long-time art teacher Barbara Surick and her local band of painters, nature's bounty is the perfect lure for their paintbrushes.

And every few weeks the Hatboro and Horsham residents put paintbrush to canvas outside, amid the beauty of flowers, lush landscapes and scenic barns and spring houses.

"We usually let everybody pick what they want, what they're comfortable with," Surick said of recreating the surroundings.

On a particularly humid day, Surick used her iPad to capture the beauty in photos, which she planned to use at home to bring her painting to life.

About 10 painters join the group for the low-key day of painting, such as a recent session at Brenda Lynch's Horsham Township backyard. But, Surick is always looking for new faces to bring nature's beauty to life on canvas.
