PHILADELPHIA REGION —PECO has issued an advisory notice relating to ongoing scams targeting customers.
Scammers are threatening to shut off service to get customers to make payments and share their personal, financial, or account information.
Anyone who receives a suspicious phone call, text message, or email or gets an unscheduled visit from someone claiming to be from PECO should not share their information. They should also contact PECO directly at 800-494-4000.

PECO will never demand immediate payment to avoid service termination, nor will they ever require one specific form of payment, such as a prepaid card, bitcoin, or third-party digital money transfers such as Zelle or ApplePay.

PECO has offered tips on how to avoid the scam:
- Do not provide account information —A real PECO representative will have the account information they need when they call.
- Keep your banking and financial information safe —You can update your banking information through your MyAccount or make a payment through an approved method at peco.com/payment.
- Check your account status, balances, payments, and supplier information yourself —Check your printed bill or log on to your PECO MyAccount or download the PECO mobile app.
