Post-Prom Needs to Raise $2K in 3 Weeks

Hatboro-Horsham High School's Post-Prom committee hopes one last fundraiser will cover a funding gap for this year's prom after party.

With under a month to go until prom-goers will literally be dancing, eating and gaming the night (and early morning) away, the organizers of Hatboro-Horsham High School's Post-Prom event are still scrambling for funds.

In all, the third annual extended night of dancing, food, music, movies, prizes and more held at the Philadelphia Sports Club in Chalfont on May 24 costs between $15,000 to $16,000 to put on. To get there, Post-Prom committee member Linda Goodwin said the group of parent organizers need to raise "at least" $2,000 more.

To help ensure enough funds for the seniors' extended rite of passage, Goodwin started a campaign on Indiegogo, a fundraising site. So far, Goodwin's video has raised roughly $1,000. Before the campaign is over on May 4, she hopes to generate even more contributions.

Besides the online campaign, Goodwin said a "spirit night" fundraiser will be held at YoFresh Yogurt Cafe (in the Giant shopping center, 314 Horsham Road in Horsham) on May 16. From 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., 20 percent of purchases will benefit Post-Prom, she said.

To date, Goodwin said just over 200 Post-Prom tickets, at $5 a piece, have been sold. Organizers have said they expect about 300 students to attend.

"We will be at school during fourth period lunches selling tickets next Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3," she said. "Tickets will continue to sell until the week of the prom and can be purchased at any time in the high school office."
