School Crossings Could Become Safer Soon

The Hatboro Borough Council is applying for a grant from the county to cover the cost of upgrading crosswalks.

Pedestrian walking, particularly crossings by kids en route to school, could be improved under a grant that Hatboro is seeking.

The Hatboro Borough Council voted Monday night to apply for a Montgomery County Community Development Block Grant to cover upgraded crosswalks in the area of Horsham, Moreboro and Academy roads.

Borough engineer James Dougherty said that in addition to upgrading crosswalks and adding curb ramps and lighting, stormwater management would be part of the roughly $215,000 project should the grant be approved.
