York Road Pedestrian Improvements Get State Boost (ICYMI)

The improvements will target illegally parked cars along York Road and other improvements in two spots, officials said.

HATBORO, PA — Improvements along York Road in Hatboro are coming, thanks to a grant from the state government.

The borough announced that the grant, for $274,056, will be used to make pedestrian improvements along York Road and Williams Lane and York Road and Summit Avenue. The grant will fund marked crosswalks, curb bump-outs, warning signs and the installation of features to handle storm water.

The borough applied for the Commonwealth Financing Authority/Department of Community Economic Development grant earlier this year.

State Rep. Thomas Murt said the improvements will target illegally parked cars that block pedestrian views of oncoming traffic in the area.

"I want to thank the authority for recognizing the importance of these improvements, which will result in significant enhancements for our community," Murt said.
