York Road Traffic Update Coming Monday

Police Chief Mark Ruegg is expected to provide an update at Monday's Hatboro Borough Council meeting after consulting with PennDOT.

HATBORO, PA — Following some serious crashes recently on South York Road, residents have raised concerns about traffic on the borough's busiest street.

Hatboro Police Chief Mark Ruegg will provide an update on those traffic concerns at the Hatboro Borough Council meeting. The meeting is at 7 p.m. on Monday at Borough Hall.

Ruegg has been working with PennDOT representatives on the traffic concerns. York Road is a state road controlled by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

At its September meeting of the Borough Council's public safety committee (Council President George Bollendorf, and Councilwomen Amanda Jacobus and Nicole Shay), along with Mayor Tim Schultz, heard concerns about traffic along South York Road after a serious accident earlier in September.

They instructed the police chief to discuss those concerns with PennDOT.

Earlier this month, a pedestrian was struck and killed at the South York and Horsham Road intersection near the Wawa convenience store.

Gregory Nolan, 70, of Hatboro, was struck by a car while walking early Tuesday morning on Oct. 14.
