• AAA: National Average Falls Below $3 (explorevenango.com) — Drivers in Kittanning are paying an average of $3.445 per gallon for regular gas, slightly above the Western Pennsylvania regional average of $3.239. AAA reports the national average has dipped below $3 for the first time in four years, with lower crude prices, weak demand, and winter-blend gasoline helping ease costs at the pump. 
• 'Always puts things in perspective': Penguins bring holiday cheer in visit to UPMC Children's Hospital (centredaily.com) — A 13-year-old from Kittanning, Collin Brisbin, says a surprise visit from Pittsburgh Penguins players made it the “best time to be in the hospital,” as they brought him gifts and plenty of attention. The team’s annual holiday stop at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville lifted spirits for several young patients and their families, even after a tough Penguins loss the night before.
