$150K Grant Will Help With Upgrades To Montco Park
Whistlestop Park in Hatfield Township had received another grant, of $250,000, earlier this month. The park is run by Montgomery Township.
HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A community park that had received a state grant earlier this month for upgrades has now received an additional $150,000 investment from the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.
Whistlestop Park, which sits on County Line Road between Montgomery and Hatfield Townships, had been awarded a previous grant of $250,000 in early September from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
This latest infusion was announced by the office of State Rep. Steve Malagari, a Democrat representing parts of Montgomery County.

"Public spaces are the heart of community," Malagari said in a statement. "The renovations made to this park will make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to gather together."
Planned improvements at Whistlestop Park include upgrades to the softball field and pickleball courts, as well as the construction of an internal loop trail throughout the park."

The additional funding will help with rehabilitating and reusing an old playground space as a picnic grove, and upgrade the trails, pedestrian walkways, parking areas, stormwater management measures and playground equipment, according to Malagari's office.
Whistlestop Park is technically within the borders of Hatfield Township, but it is operated and maintained by parks officials with neighboring Montgomery Township.
