Major Scientific Research Company Shutting Down Montco Headquarters

A total of 76 jobs will be lost or impacted by the move.

HATFIELD, PA — A major company that produces equipment for scientific research will shut down its headquarters in Montgomery County, impacting 76 jobs, according to a WARN notice from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.

Biolyst Scientific, located on 1560 Industry Road in Hatfield, will begin winding down its operations on Jan. 12. The closure will be complete on Jan. 26, according to the WARN notice.

The company's headquarters will then shift primarily to Morgantown in Berks County.

While the WARN notice specifies that 76 employees will be impacted, the company has not specified how many jobs will be lost and how many may be reassigned to the Morgantown location.

Biolyst creates equipment for general laboratory research and microscopy, including diagnostic supplies, plasticware for cell cultures and liquids, research chemicals for testing, and more.

Biolyst was created out of a mid-2024 merger of two companies, Electron Microscopy Sciences and Azer Scientific.
