150th Anniversary Celebration Of Montco Town Kicks Off With Parade This Weekend
Lansdale Borough in Montgomery County is celebrating its 150th anniversary celebration and festivities will begin with an upcoming parade.
LANSDALE, PA — It has been a century-and-a-half since this Montgomery County borough was born, and locals are prepared to celebrate in a big way.
The 150th Founder's week celebrating the anniversary of Lansdale, Pa. will soon be underway, and things will kick off with what is expected to be a well-attended parade beginning at 5 p.m. this coming Saturday along Main Street.
The celebratory parade, which is done Mardi Gras style, is a longstanding tradition in this community, and organizers expect a decent turnout.

Borough officials said the community has a long history of celebrating its birthday with a massive parade.
"This year, I am hoping for our 150th to be just as memorable and to be a true celebration of who we are and who we want to become," Lansdale Mayor Garry Herbert wrote in a piece published on NorthPennNow. "Our 150th Parade will go down in Lansdale's history as one of our biggest moments and I hope all of you can come out and join us for the fun and celebrate what a wonderful Lansdale is to live, work, and play as we continue to build this community forward together."

Lansdale is considered to be the center of the North Penn Valley, a region that comprises some other nearby townships and boroughs.
It is part of the North Penn School District, a large suburban district that serves students in North Wales Borough, Lansdale Borough, Hatfield Borough, Hatfield Township, Upper Gwynedd Township, Towamencin Township, and Montgomery Township.
The borough of Lansdale itself, which was named after Phillip Lansdale Fox, chief surveyor of the North Penn Railroad, was officially incorporated back in 1872.
