9 Lansdale Area Runners Among Boston Marathon Finishers
See how some of the best athletes from the local area fared at the 127th iteration of one of the world's most illustrious road races.

BOSTON, MA — As fields of increasing sizes have done nearly every year for over a century, tens of thousands of runners took to the streets of the greater Boston area Monday morning.
Among the crowd of some 30,000 athletes from all over the world were dozens of runners from Montgomery County, including two from Norristown.

On the men's side, the greatest marathoner in history and current world record holder, Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge, was dealt only the third marathon defeat in his illustrious career. Defending Boston champion and fellow Kenyan Evans Chebet ran away from the field for good in the final mile, crossing the line in 2:05:54.
In the women's race, another outstanding Kenyan took home the top prize. Hellen Obiri blazed a 2:21:38, beating Amane Beriso by 12 seconds.

Harley Thompson of St. Mary, in Elk County, was the top Pennsylvania finisher in 2:26:46, good for 94th place.
The Boston Marathon is the most famous and oldest marathon in the world, taking place annually since 1897.
