Last week, 16 high school students from across the Greater Philadelphia region gathered at the Jaisohn Community Wellness Plaza in North Wales for the launch of the Youth Leadership Institute — a two-day leadership development program co-led by the AAPI Coalition and the Jaisohn Center.

Held July 17–18, the program welcomed students from diverse backgrounds for interactive workshops, group projects, and a Leadership Panel featuring local leaders. Participants explored how young people can build bridges and make a difference across communities through leadership, communication, and civic engagement.

“It’s inspiring to see the next generation of leaders step up with such thoughtfulness, purpose, and hope,” said George Choe, President & CEO of the Jaisohn Center. “This Institute is about more than leadership skills — it’s about empowering youth to see themselves as changemakers in their own communities.”

The session wrapped up with student presentations and reflections from the panel, offering powerful insight into community leadership.

“They are not just preparing for the future — they are shaping it,” shared Imraan Munshi, Co-Chair of the AAPI Coalition’s Youth & Young Leadership Development Committee. “Watching these young leaders step forward with such passion and purpose has been nothing short of inspiring.”
