Montgomery County Authorities Make Arrest In '20 Killing Of Ebony Pack
Police have arrested Chong Ling L. Dan, 50, of Philadelphia in connection with the November 2020 killing of Ebony Pack.

LANSDALE, PA — Montgomery County authorities announced Friday afternoon that an arrest was made in connection with the November 2020 killing of 30-year-old Ebony Pack, who was found shot dead in her car in Lansdale Borough.
Just last week, prosecutors reminded the public that a reward was still in effect for information related to the case.
On Friday, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said they arrested 50-year-old Chong Ling L. Dan, of Lambert Street in Philadelphia, in connection with the killing.

Dan is the second defendant to have been arrested in the case; co-conspirator Ricky Vance, also of Philadelphia, was arrested in April and an arrest warrant was issued in August for Terrance Marche, who is still being sought by law enforcement.
According to prosecutors, Pack, whose killing occurred a little before 10 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2020, at the intersection of East Hancock Street and Church Road in Lansdale, had dated Dan's former girlfriend.

The girlfriend broke up with Dan in July 2020 when she started dating Pack, prosecutors said.
The investigation determined that the killing appeared to be domestic in nature.
According to the D.A.'s Office, the relationship between the former girlfriend and Pack seemed to kick off the timeline of events.
Authorities said that around the time the two women began dating, Dan's former girlfriend was "holding" $19,000 for Dan, and, after the two broke up, Dan demanded the money back, to which the former girlfriend said she could only return $10,000 since she had spent the other $9,000.
From that July until the November 2020 killing, the former girlfriend told investigators that Dan had been "harassing and abusive" toward her, and that she even had to obtain a Protection From Abuse Order against Dan, who had threatened the woman and also was "disparaging and harassing about Pack," according to the D.A.'s Office.
The former girlfriend had told police that Dan at one point threatened to "fix her," which was a reference to Pack.
Investigators determined that Pack's vehicle was followed from the Bensalem entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, through the Fort Washington exit, and into the intersection where she was ultimately killed by a passenger in a dark-colored Cadillac owned by Vance, one of the co-conspirators, according to the D.A.'s Office.
The killing was apparently captured on video, and police were able to determine that the vehicle had counterfeit paper Delaware registration tags that were procured for Vance by the other co-conspirator, Marche, according to prosecutors.
Cellphone records also determined that the three men were together leading up to the time of the killing, prosecutors said.
Vance was arrested on first-degree murder and related charges in April of this year.
Marche subsequently fled to Honduras where he met with Dan, according to prosecutors. Dan eventually returned to Philadelphia without Marche, who is still on the loose.
"Detectives have worked diligently to solve the puzzle of Ebony's death and the evidence they have uncovered points to Dan, whose anger and jealousy provided the clear motive for the killing of his former girlfriend's new love interest," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a statement. "Ms. Pack was an innocent victim, and we will continue to work to get justice for her."
Dan was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Edward Levine on first-degree murder charges. He was remanded to county prison as bail is not afforded in first-degree murder cases in Pennsylvania.
A preliminary hearing was also scheduled to take place Friday.
