Jill Dennin, Democrat For 24th Sen. Dist., Gets More Than Double Required Signatures

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A former school board member from Berks County who is seeking to replace retiring state Sen. Bob Mensch in the 24th Senatorial District has received more than double the required signatures for placement on the ballot, her campaign announced last week.

Jill Dennin, who formerly served as a school board member in Boyertown, released a statement last week saying that her campaign succeeded in getting more than 1,180 signatures, which was more than double the required 500 signatures needed to get on May's primary election ballot.

Dennin is a Democrat who is seeking to replace Republican incumbent Mensch.

"I am humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support from the more than 1,180 people across our community who helped get me on the ballot," Dennin said in a statement. "I'm ready to fight for our community in Harrisburg and to ensure our families get their fair share and look forward to continuing to meet with voters on their doorsteps, hear their concerns, and answer questions about how I'll bring solutions home for the 24th District."

The 24th Senatorial District covers parts of Montgomery, Bucks and Berks Counties.

New communities recently added due to redistricting include Upper Gwynedd Township, Towamencin Township and North Wales Borough in Montgomery County as well as Amity Township in Berks County.

In addition to being a former Boyertown Area School District board member, Dennin is also a former teacher and community advocate who is involved with various organizations, such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, Catholic Soup Kitchen, the Berks County Intermediate Unit and more.

Dennin is married to Ned, her husband of 35 years, and the couple has four boys who are graduates of the Boytertown Area School District.

Other candidates running to succeed Mensch include Republican Nick Fountain, a Republican Skippack Township supervisor; Emanuel Wilkerson, a Democratic former school board member in Pottstown; and Tracy Pennycuick, a Republican state representative.
