CVS To Lay Off 157 Employees In Montgomery County
It's part of a massive nationwide cost-cutting measure that will cost 5,000 workers their jobs.

BLUE BELL, PA — CVS is laying off some 5,000 workers nationwide, including 157 in Montgomery County, as part of a massive cost-saving measure, state documents show.
A recently filed worker adjustment and retraining notification, also known as a WARN notice, indicated the local layoffs to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
The layoffs will impact administrative, "non-customer facing" facing roles at CVS's Aetna office in Blue Bell.

Aetna is located at 1425 Union Meeting Road in Blue Bell.
The firings will be put into place from Oct. 21 to Dec. 30.

Mike DeAngelis, the executive director of corporate communications for CVS, told Patch that these layoffs are not expected to include employees working in the stores, pharmacies, clinics, or customer service centers. But in 2021, the company announced plans to close 900 stores within three years.
