Delaware firm proposing $5K donation to Lansdale concert series

Horizon Services, an HVAC firm in Delaware, is scheduled to present a proposal to council Feb. 19 regarding sponsorship of the Whites Road concert series

In what’s being called a “very good thing” by Councilwoman and Parks and Recreation Committee chair Mary Fuller, a Delaware company has offered to sponsor the parks and recreation department’s “Concerts in the Park” with a $5,000 donation.

Fuller said the concert series at Whites Road Park has been going on for 29 years. In 26 of those 29 years, the borough received a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to aid that series.

“Times are tough, and the money has dried up,” Fuller said.

George Davis IV from for Horizon Services, an HVAC company headquartered in Delaware with branches in Maryland, recently approached the department and committee about contributing funds for the concerts.

Fuller said Horizon Services wants to establish a presence in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

“They are looking for things to sponsor,” she said. “They have chosen Lansdale as a possible home to begin to get their name out.”

Davis and Horizon Services are scheduled to present a proposal to council at the Feb. 19 meeting, Fuller said.

“They are willing to donate $4,000 to $5,000,” she said.

The money will not just go toward music, but performing arts in general.

The company recently asked for permission to hang up a banner with its name on it in the borough.
