A Lansdale Retirement Community Has Received A $1 Million State Grant For Redevelopment

Elm Terrace Gardens is a nonprofit, continuing care retirement community in Lansdale. It plans to renovate and expand.

LANSDALE, PA — A local continuing care community recently received an infusion of state dollars to help with a renovation project.

The Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale received a $1 million state grant through the Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program to help fund a renovation and expansion project.

The funding was announced by the office of State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-53.

"This project will allow for the construction of a new entrance, fitness center, renovated library, outdoor gathering space and more," Malagari said in a statement. "Funding will also provide for the relocation of an electrical substation to permit additional living unit expansion and future development."

Malagari said the Lansdale community is "fortunate to have a facility like Elm Terrace Gardens," and that the state funding will "help our residents and their families for years to come.

"This is a really exciting expansion project and a great investment in Lansdale," he said.

The state funds from the Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program are administered by the Office of the Budget and designed to be used for the construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvements, according to Malagari's office.

Elm Terrace Gardens was formed back in 1981 by members of the First Baptist Church of Lansdale, according to its website.

The nonprofit Life Plan Community, also known as a continuing care community, is open to people of all faiths.

The community provides lifestyle and healthcare services, such as independent living, personal care, memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care.

The nonprofit says it has a "rich 39-year-history" in the North Penn area.
