AAUW Lansdale welcomes you to join us on November 15, 2011 at 8:00PM at the North Penn School District Educational Service Center, located on 401 East Hancock Street in Lansdale, PA for an anti-bullying awareness panel discussion program titled, “Bullying: The Unvarnished Truth”. The founders of The Anna Packer Project will be joining Dr. Nicole Yetter, North Penn School District Guidance Counselor, to candidly discuss the local issues of bullying within the schools and strategies to help combat the problems.
The Anna Packer Project was founded by Audrey Wadsworth and Jeanie Lachman resulting from the loss of 14 year old girl in 2004 through suicide as a result of bullying that continued even after she died. The Anna Packer Project Community Creating Change is a volunteer based group driven to improve community awareness and education around bullying issues. The Project aims to provide opportunities to encourage positive behavior, increase respect and improve relationships. The goal is to reduce bullying incidents resulting in the imbalance of power. The group is using grass roots based activism to work with youth based organizations and schools to create a culture of empathy as a way to reduce the increased acts of bullying and its physical and emotional effects. The group also seeks to educate children and youth about the lack of reality that exists within watching reality television programs.
