1. The time for summer vacations, cookouts, sleepovers and lounging around are over for North Penn students: Today is the first day of school.

To kick off the first day, there are a few events occurring today.

, 500 Squirrel Lane, will hold a “First Day of School Celebration” from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Students and families can gather on the playground to meet their new teachers and classmates.

, 1610 Allentown Road, will welcome students and families at 8:30 a.m. with music outside where tables will be setup by grade level, so students and families can meet their new teachers.

, 1210 North Wales Road, will hold opening day assemblies to welcome students to the new school year, beginning at 8:05 a.m.

2. Lansdale Library Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. at the .

3. Play Mexican Train Dominoes today at Lansdale Library at 1 p.m.

4. Relive Beatlemania at Act II Playhouse in Ambler this month when “4 Lads from Liverpool,” a Beatles tribute, begins tonight with a preview performance at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27.

5. There will be lane closures and slow traffic on several roads this week related to the Route 202 Parkway project.

Lane closures will be in place today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for overhead sign construction on Route 202 between County Line Road and Route 152 in New Britain Township.

Shot-term lane closures will occur on Cowpath Road, west of Five Points in Hatfield Township, today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for sign construction.
