Help For Father, 3 Sons Displaced By Montco Fire Arrives As Fundraiser

A GoFundMe seeks to aid a Lansdale father and his three sons who were displaced after a fire broke out in their home a week ago.

LANSDALE, PA — A fundraiser has been started to help out a father and his three sons after they were displaced from their home in this central Montgomery County borough following a residential blaze a week ago.

The GoFundMe, started by Eileen McNulty of The Main Freeze ice cream shop in Lansdale, is designed to aid Khallas Eaton and his sons, Khalani, Keanu and KyMani.

The family of four were left temporarily homeless after a kitchen fire overtook their twin home on Sept. 11, according to the GoFundMe and local news reports.

McNulty said in addition to the online fundraiser, her business would also be accepting donations to help out the family.

"The Eatons are an integral and active part of the Lansdale community!!" McNulty wrote in the GoFundMe description.

McNulty said Khalani Eaton — now a freshman at Lackawanna College — was a star running back while at North Penn High School. He graduated this past June.

And Khallas Eaton is the entrepreneur behind Cafe Gor(illa), a local restaurant specializing in soul food with a touch of Caribbean.

"I cannot tell you how many times Khallas has come to my personal rescue at The Main Freeze over the years, and I know I'm not alone!" McNulty wrote. "He's always there to lend a hand and some muscle."

McNulty said "a little return LOVE is just what the Eatons could use right now!," and she urged the community to contribute to the fundraiser, which, at the time of the publication of this story, had raised just over $7,000 out of a stated goal of $7,800.

An article last week on NorthPennNow said that the fire broke out at the Eaton residence at around 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 on the 800 block of West Main Street.

It was reported that none of the home's occupants were injured in the blaze, and that everyone was safely removed from the home.

The Fairmount Fire Company had posted to its Facebook page last weekend that it took firefighters about two hours to clear the scene of the blaze, and that fire crews were aided by firefighters from other nearby volunteer departments.

The fire appeared to be contained to the kitchen, but there did end up being smoke and water damage to other parts of the residence, fire officials had stated.

In the GoFundMe description, McNulty, the organizer, included a quote from Khallas Eaton about his home community, something she hopes will spur neighbors to act on the family's behalf.

"I love Lansdale," Khallas Eaton reportedly has said, according to the description. "It's my home. I'm never leaving."
