Global Drug Company Almac Group Expands Montgomery County-Based U.S. Headquarters
Almac Group, based in Ireland, announced Thursday a $65 million expansion of its U.S. headquarters, which is located in Montgomery County.
SOUDERTON, PA — A global pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company announced Thursday an $65 million expansion of its North American headquarters, which is located in Souderton, Montgomery County.
The company said the 100,000-square-foot expansion of clinical supply operations at the facility would increase clinical capacity at the facility by 60 percent and add about 355 new jobs in Montgomery County.
The expanded facility is expected to break ground in early 2023, the company stated.

The North American expansion comes after Almac Group, which is an international and privately owned company, said in July that the overall planned investment in Pennsylvania operations and facilities would total $93.5 million during the next three years, according to a company news release.
On Thursday, members of Gov. Tom Wolf's administration were in Souderton to visit the facility, according to a story on WFMZ 69 TV.

"It's a thrill to be here today to see first-hand what Almac has planned for their expansion, and I'm glad that DCED and the Wolf Administration could assist with these plans and invest in this project," Acting Secretary of Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development Neil Weaver said in a statement. "This project is bringing good paying jobs to the region and shows what Pennsylvania has to offer to companies, especially in the life sciences. This state, and this area, continues to be a worldwide leader in the biotech and life sciences industries."
Robert Dunlop, the company's president and managing director, said in a statement that the latest investment will help Almac better support the North American market.
"Drug development and clinical trials continue to evolve across the world, with sponsors expanding their pipelines to focus on biologics, vaccines and advanced therapy medicinal products," Dunlop stated. "Almac is at the forefront of building supply chain expertise and capacity for this evolution."
Almac Group, which is based in Northern Ireland, employs around 1,500 Montgomery County residents.
The company says it employs more than 6,500 people across 18 facilities in the United States, Europe and Asia.
