A State Grant Is Going To Montgomery Township To Rehabilitate Fellowship Park
The park, a wooded community space offering various amenities, is dedicated to a police patrolman who was killed in the line of duty.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — A local community park has been approved for a state grant to help with rehabilitation and upgrades to the space.
Fellowship Park, which is a wooded neighborhood park offering various recreational amenities located at the end of Meadowood Drive in Montgomery Township, will be receiving a $250,000 state grant through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The grant, announced by the office of State Rep. Todd Stephens, R-151, will help fund major improvements to the space, including removing outdated children's play equipment and replacing it with inclusive playground equipment, installing pour-in-place safety surfacing, and relocating play areas to an uphill area of the park to help eliminate past drainage issues.

There are also plans to use the state funding toward providing ADA access from the parking lot to the playground area and existing water fountain, relocating and adding ADA parking spaces, relocating an existing flagpole, replacing an access gate with a bollard, and adding benches around the new playground area, according to Stephens' office.
"This will all make Fellowship Park a more inviting place for our families," Stephens said in a statement.

According to the township, Fellowship Park is dedicated in honor of the late David Hancock, a local police officer who was killed in the line of duty in December 1976.
Hancock also founded the Homerun Derby in Montgomery Township, and a memorial to him is featured at Fellowship Park, the township stated.
The park also has a basketball court, soccer field, softball and baseball fields, tennis courts and picnic areas.
