The woman was leaving for work early in the morning when Bautista, who had been waiting for some time, leapt out and began attacking her, officials said. Much of the attack was caught on surveillance cameras, and showed Bautista repeatedly punching and kicking the woman while she was on the ground before fleeing the scene.
"Hatfield Detectives conducted a fast-paced and thorough investigation, along with gathering timely information and videos from our residents and local business owners," Hatfield Police Chief William Tierney said in a statement.
A neighbor heard the victim screaming and ran to the window where they witnessed the attack. They called 911 immediately.
Police and the district judge are currently in a dispute over the bail amount. Police requested a $1 million bail, while the judge set it at $75,000.
"The viciousness of this attack against a completely unsuspecting person warranted such a request," Tierney added. "Believe me when I tell you that we are just as shocked as you are (at the bail amount)."
A bail review has been requested.
The investigation remains ongoing. If you have any information, contact police at (215) 855-0903.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 7.
Police did not disclose the woman's condition, or that of her baby.
