Helping Hannah—The Best Part of Real Estate

Lisa Loper of the Scott Loper Team tells about a local family they helped to find a home.

A home can mean many different things to people, but I think we can all agree that a good home provides security, privacy, adequate space, and comfort.  A good home is not a money pit or leaves you cash-strapped at the end of every month.  A good home is located where you want to be: whether you want a short commute to work, good schools for your children to attend, near other family or friends, access to amenities such as parks, restaurants, shopping, or nightlife.  Often taken for granted, a good home becomes a cornerstone of a happy life.

In 2011, we met a family who is truly an inspiration – a model of hope and unconditional love.  Four generations looking to move into one house together so they could care for one another.  The grandmother had dementia, the mother was a single working mom with a heart of pure gold looking to help her mother and her children, the kids were raising two children of their own, the youngest was born with a neuromuscular disorder which has taken its toll on the family.  When Hannah was born, her mom stopped working to care for Hannah.  Due to the financial stress, they had to give up their home and go into an apartment.

This family put their trust in us to help them find a home.  In early 2012, this family was able to settle on a great home in Lansdale.  It took a lot of searching to find the right combination of bedrooms, first floor living (for the grandmother and Hannah), space for everyone to be comfortable, a nice yard and neighborhood… all at the right price.

For us in real estate, it isn’t about just selling a house, any house.  It is about finding the right house, a good home for our clients.  It is about lining our clients up with the best home inspector and the best mortgage lender to ensure the home is affordable for the long haul.  It is about earning and deserving our client’s trust.  The best part of real estate is knowing that you have helped a family build that all-important cornerstone of their life.

We got to know this family very well from our time spent with them in buying a home.  We are grateful to call them friends.  We can’t help but feel invested in our clients and their long-term well-being especially when you meet such an extraordinary family as this.  They still struggle with insurance and medical bills….

There is a beef and beer this Saturday, March 9th at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lansdale (F.O.E. at 800 W. 5th Street, Lansdale), 6pm – 11pm.  $20 at the door.  Come one, come all!

This fundraiser was organized by Jason Klaskin and Adina Dermott of Academy Mortgage - coincidently, the mortgage lender who helped this family to buy their home.  In the seemingly cold world of banks and lending, a local mortgage lender becomes personally invested in his clients also.
