Investigation Continues After Truck Hits Freight Train In Lansdale

Authorities have cleared the scene of the incident, which left two teenagers severely injured.

LANSDALE, PA — Officials are continuing to investigate after a truck collided with a Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad freight train in Lansdale early Tuesday morning, leaving two teenagers seriously injured.

Lansdale police say the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, but that the truck ran a red light and went past the functioning stop arm at the intersection with the tracks.

CBS Philadelphia reports that the train was already three or four cars through the intersection when the truck hit it.

The accident scene has now been cleared, and South Broad Street is reopened to all traffic.

In addition, SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown regional rail line has resumed service.

The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The two teens in the truck were taken to a nearby hospital where they remain in critical condition.
