Jefferson Lansdale Hospital Recognized For Providing Age Friendly Care
Jefferson Lansdale Hospital was recognized for providing Age Friendly Care, an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation.

LANSDALE, PA — A local healthcare institution has been recognized for providing exceptional care to the geriatric population.
Jefferson Lansdale Hospital — a 140-bed, acute care general hospital in Montgomery County that is part of the Jefferson Health - Abington system — announced that it is being singled out for providing Age Friendly Care, which is a joint initiative by The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States.
"Jefferson Lansdale Hospital has been a part of the North Penn region for more than eight decades, and we are proud to continuously improve the care and capabilities we offer patients in our community," Jefferson Lansdale Hospital Chief Administrative Officer Katie Farrell said in a statement. "The Age Friendly care model is one of our newest additions. Providing Age Friendly Care is important, especially in a community like ours, with an aging population."

The website Stacker places Pennsylvania at number seven on the states that have the highest number of senior citizens in their populations.
According to Jefferson Lansdale Hospital, the Age Friendly Care program is based on a set of four evidence-based elements of high-quality care, which are dubbed the "4Ms," which stand for What Matters, Medication, Mentation and Mobility.

"It is care that is safe and based on what research shows are the most important things to pay attention to as we get older ...," reads a description of the program on The John A. Hartford Foundation website.
Jefferson Lansdale Hospital says that it has several geriatric-certified nurses in its Emergency Department and inpatient units, and that employees and staff are regularly offered continuing education around the issues pertaining to senior care.
"Older adults have unique needs," Nataliya Dementovych, the hospital's geriatric medical director, said in a statement. "At Jefferson Lansdale Hospital, we strive to provide the personalized care they need and deserve."
