Organizers of the Lansdale 150 Committee is working hard to make the celebration "one for the ages.

"From constructing a commemorative gazebo in the center of Memorial Park to planting a veritable forest of new trees, to parades and picnics and fireworks all around town, we're planning to make the borough's 150th birthday worthy of a century and a half of history," the website reads.

Lansdale Borough was incorporated in 1872 and was named for Phillip Lansdale Fox, chief surveyor of the North Pennsylvania Railroad, according to the borough's Wikipedia page.

Lansdale saw much growth during those early days thanks to the railroad, which was later renamed the Reading Railroad.
