Fessler, who had volunteered at Elm Terrace Gardens before becoming a resident, is a Philadelphia native who retired from a position with the electric technology company Leeds and Northrup after 25 years of service back in 1982, according to Lansdale police, which announced the birthday celebration in a Facebook post.
After she retired, Fessler went on to work a part-time position with Harleysville National Bank in Montgomery County for another 10 years, according to the post.

"Happy Birthday Doris and thank you for letting us celebrate with you and your family," Lansdale police said in their post.
Elm Terrace Gardens also highlighted the event on their own Facebook page, taking the time to thank those local officials who came by to celebrate Fessler's milestone birthday.
Researchers say that more and more people are expected to make it to 100 given society's increasing life expectancy.
Statistically, women tend to live longer than men, meaning more females seem to hit the 100th milestone birthday than do men.
In 2018, there were close to 94,000 centenarians living in the United States.
