Lansdale Police Say Dirt Bikers, ATV Riders Seen Illegally Riding On Borough Streets

It is illegal to ride dirt bikes and ATVs on borough streets, Lansdale police say. One dirt bike incident occurred on Dec. 13.

LANSDALE, PA — Local police are warning about the illegality of riding dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles on borough roadways.

Police said an officer watched as one dirt bike operator did a wheelie, or rode on the back wheel of the vehicle, on Dec. 13.

Residents have also lodged several other complaints in recent time involving motorized dirt bikes and ATVs going up and down neighborhood streets.

Police are reminding the public that riding unregistered vehicles such as these on local streets is not street legal and will result in penalties if the individuals are caught by officers.

During the Dec. 13 incident, the officer who saw the dirt bike rider riding on the vehicle's back wheel did not engage in a pursuit and the individual was not located.

Residents who witness similar acts, or those who have information about the Dec. 13 dirt bike incident, are asked to contact Lansdale Police at 215-368-1801.

Lansdale is not the only community dealing with such incidents, as reports of unregistered dirt bikes and ATVs traversing neighborhood streets can be found in other suburban communities as well as the City of Philadelphia.
