'Legendary' Lansdale Catholic Girls 1 Win From State Basketball Title

The local girls are looking to do the Philly area proud.

LANSDALE, PA — The Lansdale Catholic girls basketball team is continuing to establish its program as one of the more dominant forces in southeastern Pennsylvania hoops.

The Crusaders were dominant in the semifinals Monday night, defeating a talented Scranton Prep squad by a lopsided final of 60-28. The win earns them a spot in the PIAA 4A state championship game on Saturday.

It's their second straight appearance in the championship game. The girls fell to Archbishop Wood a year ago, and they're more than ready for revenge.

"The road to Hershey is complete," the school shared on its social media pages Tuesday. "Just ONE more win to complete the 'Triple Crown' work of the legendary 2022-2023 Crusaders team."

As always, superstar senior Gabby Casey led the way with 19 points in the first half Monday, giving the Crusaders a 35-15 lead at halftime which they would never relinquish.

The season has been a special one indeed for the Crusaders, who are 28-2 on the year. They're currently 3rd in MaxPreps rankings for the entire state, including all sections.

They'll face off Saturday against Beaver County's Blackhawk High School, which advanced to the final on the heels of much narrower victories in their past two games. Blackhawk sits at 16th in the overall state rankings heading into the 4A championship.

The 2021-22 championship game marked Lansdale Catholic's first appearance in the 4A finals.

Tipoff for this year's final is at noon Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey.
