LETTER: Write In Dan Dunigan for Ward 3 Lansdale Council
Send letters to tonyd@patch.com

If you live in Ward 3, like me, over the last couple of weeks, you’ve received innumerable mailers from both political parties, explaining why Lansdale once again desperately needs “change." The concerns range from a lack of fiscal responsibility, to insinuations of secrecy and Council operating “behind closed doors."
Both parties are spending tens of thousands of dollars to convince you of how desperate the situation is, and hopefully, buy your vote. In some cases they’ve given to outright lying, which is truly sad.
They’re hoping that you’ll forget that four years ago, the borough was actually in pretty bad shape financially. We were deficit spending year after year, looking to cut critical services (including police) and running out of money in the piggy bank. Lansdale was treading water.
Fast forward to today. Four years of balanced budgets. Money back in the bank. Credit rating back to A+. Awards received for financial management. Major developers showing a real interest in our town. New businesses cropping up every day. More events than ever, bringing more and more people downtown. A real buzz that things are starting to get better.
So why then are the local political parties working so hard to get their candidates elected, spending more than ever to tarnish the records of those who’ve done so much to turn this town around? To scare you into believing that things are headed in the wrong direction?
Because – simply put – four years ago, they weren’t invited to the “party.” They lost control of several of those running for office – of a few individuals who were willing to cross Party lines and say that LANSDALE is more important than any Party loyalty, or Party cronyism or special favors or positions. And they won resoundingly, and proceeded to put Lansdale back on the right track. Look around, and ask yourself if that’s not true.
DAN DUNIGAN was one of those few. As Chair of the Borough’s Admin and Finance Committee, he spearheaded the necessary changes to put the Borough back on the path to financial stability and solvency. To balance the budget, hire more Police, insist on financial management best practices and proper capital planning. For his trouble, he was ostracized by his own Party – because he wouldn’t play by their rules.
So, as you enter the voting booth on November 5, recognize that you have a choice outside of what the local Parties are telling you. I’m not asking that you agree with every choice, and every decision of the last four years. But I am asking that you look beyond what both Parties are spending lavishly to help you forget – that we are in fact much better off than we were four years ago, and headed in the right direction.
On November 5, if you vote in Ward 3, join me in WRITING IN the name of a proven leader who puts Lansdale FIRST.
Write in DAN DUNIGAN for Lansdale Borough Council.
Denton Burnell
Lansdale Borough Councilman
Ward 3
