LANSDALE, PA — A new radio station has been added to the mix in the greater Philadelphia area, and it's based right here in Lansdale.

The new 105.7 FM, from Radio Delaware Valley, will bring a mix of old favories from the 1920s and 1930s, along with country, soul, polka, and more.

“We’re trying to target stuff that people remember that’s good stuff,” Charles Loughery, president of the nonprofit formed to operate the radio station, the Bux-Mont Educational Radio Association, told Patch.

Or, put another way: “How many more classic rock stations do you need?” asked station general manager Fred Rice.

An experienced team of volunteer DJs will choose the station's music, broadcasting from two turntables, a CD player, and laptop.

The station offers training to these DJs to help advance their careers, including recording and editing spots and promos, editing public service announcements, and more.

In addition to the Lansdale-based 105.7 FM, Radio Delaware Valley is also adding a Berlin, New Jersey-based station, WTHA-FM 88.1.

Beyond music, the stations also will offer public affairs programming, area church services on Sundays from 7 a.m. and noon, and a rolling broadcast of local nonprofit events.

While the station will be accessible to the greater Philadelphia area and the Jersey shore, like other Radio Delaware Valley stations, streaming has helped extend its reach abroad to England, Germany, and elsewhere.

Other Radio Delaware Valley stations include 89.3 in Hatboro, 107.3 in Philadelphia, 97.1 in Bensalem, and 91.7 in Bristol and Levittown.
